Taylor Hicks Release to Help Katharine McPhee & Kellie Pickler
Taylor Hicks first album post American Idol will be a blockbuster. Despite the detractors, the much-anticipated release will be welcomed by fans of the soulful singer and the 'Soul Patrol' will help it debut in the number one spot.
It reportedly releases on November 14, and TMZ has an item that notes that his popularity will be used to boost sales for both Katharine McPhee and Kellie Pickler's releases.
The AOL web site reports that Taylor will face a crowded day of idol wannabes when his album is available.
The item reports that he's going to be sharing his album release date, Nov. 14, with also-rans Katharine McPhee and Kellie Pickler.
Sony BMG will release all three albums together for the first time in the short history of the competition.
Industry insiders say that the move will help build traffic for the also-rans. "With the exception of Clay Aiken," says Billboard's Geoff Mayfield in the New York Post, "the other finalists who have gotten albums haven't really been a big deal."
