Did Coldplay copy Joe Satriani? (listen and judge here)
British rockers Coldplay have been sued by guitarist Joe Satriani over claims that the band plagiarised large portions of their Viva la Vida smash with his lyrics.
“If I Could Fly” is a track written by Satriani who claims that Coldplay took extensive lyrics from that track to incorperate into their own.
Coldplay’s album was one of the biggest to be released in 2008, and has resulted in the band picking up 7 Grammy nominations.
Satriani is suing for damages, and all proceeds that the song generates. Funnily enough, Viva La Vida is up for song of the year.
